Cardamom Vanilla & Chocolate Coconut Overnight Oats

I don't have kids and I don't start work super early but I'm the type of person who needs at least 8 hours of sleep per night and no matter what I do, I never have time to make breakfast in the morning. My solution to this problem is either making myself a jar of yogurt, frozen fruit and granola the night before, or throwing together some overnight oats.

Buttermilk Pancakes

It's Wednesday, and this is a four-day week for me because I'm heading to a wedding (no rhyming intended) in Arkansas this Friday! Inspired by the fact that my hotel is next to a Waffle House, I made some good old fashioned breakfast food.

Buttermilk Biscuits

I may have been influenced by five childhood years in Austin, TX, college in North Carolina, and my Georgia-born and raised boyfriend, but there is nothing on the planet that beats freshly baked buttermilk biscuits in the morning. They're nothing fancy, require no special equipment and have just a few basic ingredients plus buttermilk. Eat them with butter and jam, make an egg sandwich, or have them with gravy. You can't go wrong with biscuits.

Breakfast Loaf

It's Thursday, aka pre-Friday, and it's high time for the freakin' weekend. The high on Sunday in NYC is supposed to be 13 degrees Fahrenheit so this seems like a good time to plan on staying in, wearing a bathrobe, and making lots of good food. And there's no better addition to a homemade meal than a good loaf of bread (other than wine, duh).

Swedish Waffles

It's officially winter. The high was below freezing today, I can't feel my face when I'm outside (I don't love it), and yesterday it snowed (small yay!). Naturally, I decided to spend my MLK Day baking since I didn't have to be at work and I had just bought some new props for food photography. Helloooooo dollar bill kitchen towel!

Eggs in Detention

It's a scientific fact that everything tastes better with an egg on top*. The irony here is that, as a kid, you couldn't get me to touch an egg with a 10-foot pole and now I can't get enough of them. I love them hard-boiled, poached, sunny side up, fried... you name it, I like it. Breakfast also happens to be my favorite meal of the day, and I suspect the two preferences may be linked.
